NEW “How to” video resources

New videos to help you recognise dementia-related changes, and start a conversation with someone you care about to get an assessment.

Being alert to the range of signs and noticing any changes is key to getting an early dementia diagnosis, treatments and support.

If you are unsure of what potential dementia signs and changes are, watch our new video, Know the Signs, Notice the Changes, with Dr Meredith Gresham, Occupational Therapist and Research Fellow at the University of Wollongong. You can also download and print the Checklist for dementia symptoms and changes from this website and use it to record any changes you’ve noticed.

If you are concerned that someone you know may have dementia, but are unsure how to approach them, watch our other ‘How To’ video resource Starting a conversation about assessment (also with Dr Meredith Gresham). Talking with someone you think may experiencing changes is never easy. It is important to express your concerns and support the person to get a GP assessment and treatment.

These new video resources were requested by people living with dementia and their supporters, as well as people with concerns, during the co-design process for the Face Dementia campaign. The videos are designed to help people to have a conversation with their GP, nurse or health professional as well as their family.

Please note, the videos and the checklist are not intended to diagnose dementia or any other health condition. There may be other reasons for changes you or your family member are experiencing, and a medical assessment is always recommended.
